Utilizing unique abilities and followers' traits, they navigate a map from the castle to the necropolis, aiming to outmaneuver rivals. Players move Heralds to claim locations and play cards facedown; these are revealed to resolve conflicts and earn influence points. The first to achieve a set influence threshold and maintain it until the end of a round wins.
