Today we're setting up Caverna from Mayfair games. There are a million pieces for this game so we recommend busting out a few muffin tins in order to help organize. You'll want to pull out and divide all of the wooden components. Caverna is a 2-7 player game, but it is recommended to play with less than 5 for your first game. Setup the 2 main gray boards in the center of the table, and to the left of those, add additional boards checking both sides and making sure to add all boards that correspond to the number of players. To the right add the double-sided supply boards. Choose the simple side for Introductory play. Full sided is recommended for advanced play or 6-7 players. Put the orange dwelling board at the top, green in the center, and gold at the bottom. Place the matching tile on each space of the supply boards, making a large stack of the Dwelling tiles. Not all tiles will be used for the Introductory-sided board. These go back in the box. Sort the 12 action space cards by the back number, then shuffle each stack face-down before placing one on each corresponding stage on the main board. The card for round 4 is left on the side which says Round 4. Next, shuffle the 7 Harvest markers and place them face down over the corresponding markers on the gray tiled board, starting with round 6. Place the harvest event card near the board. Stack the landscape tiles in an easy to reach area. Tiles are double sided, so make stacks of each type of tile, both for farming and mining. Next, every player takes a personal mat and colored tokens. 2 dwarf disks are placed in your entry-level dwelling on your mat. A cheat sheet card is given to each player for reference. Choose a starting player. That player is given 1 food, 2nd player also 1 food, 3rd- 2 food, 4th- 3 food and so on. And with that you should be set. Go play!
